Summer Reading Challenges!

I am encouraging the students to keep up their reading over the summer. There are two competitions that students can participate in.

Bartlett Library Competition
I hope everyone can come out to the Bartlett Library kickoff program on June 1st from 11-2. They will have face painting, balloon art, photo ops, activities, and games.

Each week when your child comes to the library they will tell one of the librarians/volunteers how many minutes/hours they read and they will receive one bead per 20 minutes read to add to Bon Lin Elementary’s jar. The library will record these numbers. If you can’t make it each week then whenever you go be sure to tell them your total minutes read since your last time. Our school won third place last year and we want to win 1st place this year! The books on do count towards this competition. All students who participate will receive a reward when we return school. The competition runs through August 3rd this year.

Barnes and Nobles
There is a reading journal sheet attached and students are to read 8 books. Then they write down the title, what was their favorite part, and why. Once it is filled you take the journal page to Barnes and Nobles where the student will get to pick out a free book.

I look forward to seeing you on June 1st at the Bartlett Library Competition Kick-off!
