Spelling Choices, Choices, Choices

 

1.  Write the definition for each word.

2.  Make a word search on graph paper or use an internet creation tool.  Circle all words.

3.  Write a short story.  Underline each spelling word.

4.  Find each word in a newspaper or magazine.  Cut out the words & glue them on paper.

5.  Create a crossword puzzle using an internet creation tool.  Answer the puzzle.

6.  Draw a scene that includes pictures of the words from your list.  Include your words in the scene.

 

7.  Rainbow words: Write each of your words in 3 different colors, one time in each color.

8.  Have someone give you a practice test.  Write the correct spelling of any misspelled word next to it 2 times.  Practice test must be signed by an adult.

 

9.  Write a complete sentence for each word.  Underline each spelling word.

10.  Write all words 3 times each.

11.  Write all words in alphabetical order and reverse alphabetical order.

12.  Use Alphabet cereal, pasta, rice, or beans to spell out your words.  Glue them to paper.

13.  Create a word pyramid or triangle for each word.

14.  Ransom words: Write your words by cutting out letters in a newspaper or magazine and glue them on paper.

 

15.  Create a mnemonic for each of your spelling words.  Example: Because - Big Elephants Can Always Use Sticky Envelopes

 

16. Silly sentences - Use all of your words in ten sentences.

17. Delicious words – Write your words in whipped cream, peanut butter, or anything you can eat! Bring in a note from a parent!

 

18. Choo-Choo Words – Write the entire list end-to-end as one long word, using different colors of crayon or ink for different words.

 

19. Telephone Words – Write your spelling words and then translate your words into numbers from a telephone keypad.

 

20. Flashwriting – In a darkened room, use a flashlight to draw letters in the air. Bring in a note from a parent!

 

21. Scratch n' Sniff Words - Write letters with glue on paper, them sprinkle with Jell-O. Makes a super scratch n' Sniff when tracing over the letters.
